Exchange Fantasy for Sustainable Authenticity

This theme works at both the personal and macro levels.

At the personal level, it’s about how we can become fixated on illusory visions of success while ignoring achievable, sustainable steps towards better conditions.

Only a hundred times the income in half the time is good enough (to advertise or pursue).

That leads to some extraordinary pyramids of manic activity characterized by the “You Too Can (fill in the blanks) Just Like Me”.

There’s a level of desperation for “success” as an index of personal worth that is not only illusory but downright destructive. And it is rammed down our throats. Every. Single. Day.

Dump it all. Step back and consider where you can add authentic, sustainable value. Sustainable value is something people get to keep and cherish.

If we consider that and act on it, we could just find ourselves building sustainable businesses that are deeply valued by others and that sustain us.

On a macro level, precisely the same themes are urgently relevant to our survival. The fantasy of infinite growth with no regeneration has to give way to sustainable ways of living and doing business if we are to survive.
