Networking

We are told that networking is one of the things we must be utterly devoted to by pretty much every marketing and salesperson out there.

Often, we are told at the same time that we have to hustle, hustle, and hustle to raise awareness. Drive them down a funnel towards a sale.

It’s awful, and if you’ve been forcing yourself to do it, stop. Put stuff out there you genuinely believe in and would love to chat about.

Provide what you think is interesting and helpful, and let people connect with it.

That can lead to significant, genuine conversations where you get to know each other.

And people like to do business with people they know and like, though that’s not even the main aim.

Tune in to you and your unique contribution with confidence and clarity, allowing yourself to enjoy connecting with people as an end in itself.

No one who is coerced or brow-beaten into buying something will ever come back, and selling in this way compromises your sense of integrity and connection with yourself.

Drop “hustle,” think “authentic”, and get connected.
