Communities
People form groups and communities according to their natural affinities, shared ideas, and perspectives.
The groups we become engaged with are determined by our ideas and beliefs. We can be flexible and recognize that others think differently, but feel most at home with those we perceive as sharing common aims and ways of thinking.
Sometimes it is tempting to seek membership in a group or community simply because we long for some kind of belonging.
But if we are censoring what we really think and feel to do this, it is a mistake and will never quite work.
So, when you’re looking for connection, look for the things that matter to you, that feel right, and don’t give up critical perspective and thoughtfulness just because you think you need to belong to something.
Let any limits you may be placing on yourself about where you will find natural affinities dissolve, and be open to exploring.
Maybe after all, what intrinsically feels right will lead you to find, create, or join groups you didn’t think existed.
And you can just let limiting beliefs dissolve…
