Gradual Growth
When we are frustrated with slow progress, it can be helpful to consider the benefits.
Hardwoods grow much more slowly than softwoods, but an Oak beam will hold up a roof for hundreds of years.
So maybe if progress seems slow, it is because we are focused on building a life that does not require too much compromise of essential values and principles and will be strong over time.
While others seem to be burning down the fast lane of acquiring things, perhaps what we are building in that slower lane will be supporting someone’s roof 300 years from now.
Or if we are planting a forest, for example, enabling the people to breathe.
