Influences

Whatever kind of influence may be affecting us, it is better for us to act from a state of balance than from impulse or a desperate need to do something. Just because we can act doesn’t mean we should.

It’s good to pay attention to the real, imperfect world and how we describe it. Words have the power to shape perceptions, which affect the actions we take and how aligned they are with reality.

By practicing emptiness and silence, we can allow other people and the world to appear without the filter of our preconceptions.

In this way, we can consider the influences around us and calmly decide what action to take, if any. This simple practice can transform many situations.
