Limits of Home

Limits create a home by defining spaces for different activities and protection from the outside, and that’s good.

But if we become so attached to that sense of safety and definition that we never go out the door, we become stale, and there is no fresh experience to grow through.

Of course, it doesn’t work to throw away all limits when leaving behind the safety of the known, but they can be more flexible and adaptable to the new.

Out in the wide world, we need to be cautious not to try to squish our experiences into boxes that cannot contain them. When we discard the limitations of unsuitable structures, natural and fitting limits become apparent, making sense of our more expansive experience.
