Blocked to Growth

Nothing blocks us quite like shame. It is so insidious and woven into our sense of self that we can even feel ashamed of our shame and be unable to resolve it.

We were not born with it but acquired it, and often the subject is something fundamental to who we are that others have decided to shame us for at some point. They do this for many reasons, none of them good, and we can carry a heavy load for a long time.

We can’t always face shame head-on and root it out, but we can choose to do things that are meaningful for us and give our lives a sense of purpose.

Acting that way indirectly erodes shame by gradually increasing our sense of purpose and engagement in being.

Until one day, we find ourselves looking curiously at these feelings and realizing they are not us, do not belong to us, and we are free to let them go completely.
