Stilling, Seeing, Effecting
Being still in a culture that indexes our seriousness as people by how much activity we get through in a day is tough.
It flies in the face of almost everything we are taught and pretty well every work culture. That’s why being still is a rare and unique power that repays us many times over.
Being still is hard if our peers take us with them in a direction that doesn’t feel right.
Pausing and reflecting before speaking does not mean we miss out. What we say when we speak has coherence and context, which equals impact.
Rather than following the frenetic herd, being in this way means finding our way to the center of things. And acting from there, even if it is not full of drama, will be full of beneficial effects.
